Finding Arnold Schwarzenegger
A favorite California pastime is arguably the pursuit of celebrity hunting. And with such an iconic Governor, California's capital is not exempt from such activities. “Arnold-spotting,” has become a popular activity with Sacramento visitors and residents alike, ever since the superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger became California’s governor in November 2003,

The Hyatt Regency Sacramento

The Hyatt Regency Sacramento

Located directly across the street from the state capital, the Hyatt Regency is considered Arnold Schwarzenegger’s home away from home. The hotel’s spacious rooms feature fabulous views of the Capitol and in-room amenities include ultra-soft sheets, plush pillows and thick down blankets. Numerous entertainment venues, including the Arco arena, home of the Sacramento Kings, are located nearby

Esquire Grill

Esquire Grill

The Governor has occasionally been spotted “doing lunch” with other politicos at the deluxe Esquire Grill. Located at 13th & K streets, Esquire Grill provides an amazing restaurant experience in the heart of Sacramento’s business district. The open-air patio is perfect for sipping martinis, and the tasty seasonal menu is made up of classic and creative American cuisine, including a tempting line up of steaks and chops. Insider tip: when at Esquire, be sure to never pass on the homemade desserts. You’ll regret missing them.

Casilla’s Cigars

Casilla’s Cigars

Although the Governor’s preference for good cigars is much maligned by anti smoking groups, he did have a tent erected in one of the Capitol courtyards so he can indulge in his favorite Casillas No.1. Located in downtown Sacramento, Casilla’s Cigars roll their cigars fresh every day using Cuban techniques that have passed down through four generations.

Capital Athletic Club

Capital Athletic Club

The former Mr. Universe still finds time in his busy schedule to workout regularly. According to sources, he heads to the Capital Athletic Club several times each week where he’s been known to dispense advice to fellow fitness enthusiasts. Capital Athletic Club is a private membership gym, although guest passes are available. If staying in Sacramento, it may be wise to speak with your hotel concierge to see what connections they offer.

California State Capitol

California State Capitol

Although it is unlikely that you’ll actually see the governor in action, no trip to Sacramento should forgo a tour of the California State Capitol. Various tour options are available, including a tour of the working Capitol building, a historical tour that takes visitors to a recreation of the turn-of-the-century Capitol building, and tours of the scenic, 40-acre Capitol Park.
